Season Two Season Premiere
« on: June 16, 2012, 12:30:32 AM »
Whoa...

Was watching USA network reruns of Season 1.  Love the other characters of the show - Donna and Jessica and - sit down now - Louis.  I mean, Louis is everything you hate in a finger-on-the-pulse-of-the-office co-worker, smarmy, back-stabbing, evil-smart, scheming - but he's so FUNNY.  Each time he gets funnier, and so much of it is the actor and all the little things he put into Louis - the double-takes, the open-mouth-thinks-better-of-speaking - that go by in a flash.  In a lesser show, you'd feel sorry for him, but here you don't, and I still think he's freaking hilarious.

So, Season 2 premiere.  Yow.  The title is "She Knows", and the last scene, when Mike sits down across from Jessica - it feels like a serious date leading straight to making fierce, competitive, take-no-prisoners love.  Uh-huh.  Jessica is going to give Harvey a run for his money, they're both going to be fighting over Mike.  All the while, she and Harvey have to face the battle for Pearson Hardman together, against an enemy that is smooth, born-again, sweet evil grace.

Can't wait.
There's a reason we don't call our chits in early - consumer confidence.  This isn't Wall Street.  This is Hell! We have a little something called Integrity.

Watching this show, as I do, through slash glasses, I freaking adored every Harvey and Mike scene and backed up ye ole DVR and watched them again. And while I'm a bit upset that Harvey blackmailed Jessica into keeping Mike (since Jessica/Harvey are my second favorite relationship on this show) I'm going to enjoy the heck out of all four of them (including the absolutely amazing Donna) being in this together.

And I agree about that last scene with Jessica and Mike. Fantastic. I just wish we'd gotten to see some more of it.

This season is going to be great!

It was wonderful! What a great season opener! I'd forgotten what it was like to be into a show that consistently delivers such quality writing. I just hope Suits can keep it up.

I was intrigued most of all by how last season has moved both Harvey and Mike closer together in who they are.

Harvey is still a badass, as his interactions with Hardman show, but his love for Mike has softened the edges. I loved how Donna pointed out he was wearing the same lilac shirt he wore when his brother was in the hospital, signifying his protective feelings towards Mike. And Harvey put his job on the line - he aligned his interests and his life with Mike's. I loved that he did that! I knew he wouldn't be able to fire Mike. Harvey has come a long way from S1 Ep 1- that Harvey would have thrown Mike under the bus if Mike hadn't had some leverage on him. THIS Harvey stepped up and said if you fire Mike you fire me.

There's a great article about Season 2 in which Gabriel says: “He works his ass off to keep this kid because he thinks he’s still his ace in the hole. But there are times when you might think Harvey’s gonna take him out and he’s done. He’ll never admit it, but he loves him.” I love that in the whole article the only people defined as having a ‘love’ relationship are Harvey and Mike. And it’s Gabriel who says it :-).

And Mike...he's moved a little towards the dark while Harvey has moved a little towards the light - somewhere along the way they're going to meet in the middle! And I loved how this showed that they each have an effect on the other. It isn't just Mike affecting Harvey - Harvey is rubbing off on Mike too (ooh er, missus!). When Mike was posturing to the girl in the bookshop he was being an idiot, and a not very good lawyer. But when he really listened, he brought his Harvey side out and got the Harvey solution. He DID get a deal for the plagiarised girl, but he also made a good point to her and didn't let her grandstand and hold up the merger.  He was kind but not weak. And Mike's attitude towards Trevor was exactly what it needed to be. He finally wised up and stopped Trevor walking all over him. I enjoyed seeing him take that step.

I thought Korsh was totally chanelling a private anger over that plagiarism case! LOL! And I very much agreed with his conclusion. There IS nothing new under the sun. It's what you do with it. And really, anyone can have 100 good ideas for novels before breakfast but the hard part is writing them and making them work - that takes months and a finished novel is so much more than just an idea. So I didn't have a huge amount of sympathy for plagiarised!girl. I did understand how galling her situation must have been though, and I was glad Mike got it right in the end.

I felt very sorry for Jessica when Mike was lying to her during dinner. Both Mike and Harvey have treated her badly, and I hope they make it up to her and make her glad she didn't insist on Mike being fired. Hardman was right about your secrets being your weaknesses. Eep. That doesn't bode well for the boys going forward. Jessica was totally awesome in her showdown with Mike at the end though! Wow - she is one smart lady! I love her most out of all the women on Suits.

It was a cracking first episode. It's clear Louis will side with Hardman - and I'm glad Harold is going to get more of a starring role as he rocked in S1. I'm not particularly interested in Rachel/Mike so whatever to that, but I thought it was a shame about Jenny. I was so happy that we saw more Grammy! She was wonderful! I adore her and can't WAIT for her to meet Harvey. Those two are going to share some great banter. I think she'll be a bit suspicious of him but see his obvious love for Mike - they share that.

Hardman is SO lying through his teeth. He hasn't changed - he's going to be slippery, and they're going to have to watch their backs the entire time. That's a great setup for S2.

I had some private squee that nothing we learned about their back story screwed with my Possession universe, although of course that might happen at some point. I particularly loved the part about Mike's parents both dying in a car crash when he was 11 as that fits my story totally. And Harvey being a protective big brother whose little brother has ended up in the hospital at some point. That all fits. It was interesting hearing about Harvey's 'friend' who had a mother who cheated on his dad. Clearly, judging by Donna's comment about his mom showing up, that 'friend' was Harvey, and he's never forgiven his mom. It also explains a lot about Harvey's relationships with women.

So, lots of interesting stuff coming up! I love how good and exciting the writing is. But most of all - I love how much Harvey loves Mike!

Here are a few choice gifs from the episode :-)

WWHD:

So adorable - it's like in the NCIS episode “Bait” when Tony did the same thing: WWGD - what would Gibbs do? I love these subby boys and their hero-worship of their doms!

And below - I love how fired up Mike is, and how Harvey loves that so much that he hates the thought of bringing Mike down. But he can also very easily control Mike too - beautiful.

And then there's this! ROFL! Harvey would totally fly away with Mike rather than let anyone hurt him *ggg*. And Mike would totally go with him!

It must be love, love, love...:

In short - I am so happy Suits is back and S2 is looking to be as good as S1!

So, I haven;t actually seen the Season 2 premiere...I will have to wait until Dave gets round to showing it later this year (must check their website to see if there is a date for this yet!). However, I have read reviews and summaries online.

As I read, one of the forst things that struck me as I read about Mike's past....the accident...Harvey and his younger brother....was OMG! Xanthe is a consultant for the show!!!! Eitrher that or someone has read 'Possession' and decided to keep the show in canon with her version!

(Having been introduced to Suits by Possession before seeing the show, I naturally assume that Xanthe's work is the 'original!!!!....well it makes perfect logical sense to my ASD brain!....and I am going to be so pissed if the show ever deviates!)

I have all sorts of hopes/wishes for Series 2.....including that it will inspire that 'Three MAsters' story I keep pushing for!....I've been rereading 24/7 (as it is now kindlified!) and was thinking I just HAVE to see Harvey and Mike visiting Elliot (or would it now be Donny as manager?) for some fine suits....and I want to see Fox and Mike face off re their perfect recall memories ...and I want to see more of the obnoxious Lee (has he grown up...is he still with Mike?)...and I want to have even a one sentence reolution the what happened in the end to Franklin (sp?) - was he killed?....and I want to see Mike and Tony banter about films....and Tony really screw with Mike's mind about being a sub ('cos Tony will be all been-there-done-that....right up until Gibbs catches him!)....I believe there WAS a promise that if Suits series 2 was inspiring then there might be the sequel I dream of!
