Coming Soon!
I've just finished writing "The First Collar", a new
BDSM universe story. It's 95,000 words long and is a prequel to
Hiding in Plain Sight. I
mention in HiPS that Gibbs collared Tony within 3 weeks of meeting him, and the
story of those three weeks is told in this fic.
Below is the title graphic, kindly made by Colleen Detroit with text added by Bluespirit. And beneath that is a teaser for the new story.
Gibbs looked the kid up and down. He was a mess; there was no other way of
describing it. Nobody in their right mind turned up to a job interview looking
like this. He was wearing a black leather jacket over a crumpled dark green
shirt – no tie – and a pair of tight-fitting black jeans that left nothing to
the imagination. Jeans! Not even suit pants. His hair was a mess, he hadn’t
bothered to shave, and – not to put too fine a point on it – he stank. He
smelled like he’d come straight from a bar – and he looked like he was dressed
to seduce rather than get a job.

I don't make any money from the sale of my zined stories. I wouldn't want to! I just love the writing - and sharing it with you guys and having a squee about it :-) Secondly, a big thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Tearoom awards.
In the noughties category I won best fanfic author, and 24/7 won best BDSM fic and best fanfic story. And in the 2009 category I won best fanfic author, and Two Masters won best BDSM story, best fanfiction story, and best BDSM scene. And my version of Gibbs/DiNozzo was voted best fanfic pairing. I've added them to my awards page. Thank you also to whoever nominated a bunch of my X Files fics over at the Wicked awards. That's awesome! I've updated the translation page with new Chinese translations of my stories. Also, I'm hanging out a lot on Twitter these days. (I'm xanthetwirls over there) if you want to follow me and chat. Finally (drum roll!) I'm busy working on a new BDSM-universe story. It's a prequel to Hiding in Plain Sight telling the story of how Tony got his first collar from Gibbs. And I'm LOVING it! It's flowing so easily and is so much fun! It currently stands at 32,000 words and is
probably going to be around 60,000 - 70,000 words long by the time I'm

WOOT! I didn't have access to this website for awhile as my PC died, taking the site with it. But now I'm back up and running and pleased to tell you the fic is 165,000 words long and nearly there. And I won some awards! YAY!

Just realised I hadn't updated here in awhile and it isn't because I'm not busy writing because I AM! So this is a progress report. I am currently 122,000 words into the long (very long!) BDSM story I'm writing. It isn't set in the BDSM 'verse, but it IS Gibbs/Tony and Gibbs is the dom.
I want to talk about the new story. I want to shout about it. There's one particular thing about it that makes me squee, and I hope it'll make others squee too. It's going to be much longer so don't expect it to be posted any time soon, but I will try and keep you updated on my progress a bit more as I go along.
And, inspiringly, Paperflower sent me a lovely HiPS manip today - which I've added to the HiPS shrine. The manip also works well for the story I'm currently writing so yay *g*.

This is such an enormous story - I'm full of admiration and gratitude to her for sticking with the translation. And apologies for somewhat belatedly posting a link to a Chinese translation of "A Foreign Country" by Ellen Zak - it got lost in my inbox and I overlooked it before.

Coming Soon! I've been working on a new long fic - not as long as Hiding in Plain Sight (agh!), but it's going to be well over 30,000 words by the time it's done. I've really enjoyed writing this one - it's called "Andy" and it's a total change of tone and pace from the BDSM-verse - very angsty, downbeat and gritty. It's been great writing in a different style again, like in the old XF days, and I'm loving how easy it is to play with the NCIS boys - they have so many issues *g*. Mainly, in this story, I'm looking at those rampant daddy issues both Gibbs and Tony exhibit on the show, and I've just loved that aspect of it, and linking the two together to see why they have this kind of symbiotic relationship.
I'm not sure when I'll post the new story, but some details are below :-). Title: "Andy" I've also added a fabulous new picture by Kaylashay to the HiPS shrine. November 2nd, 2008 The Hiding in Plain Sight Shrine. I've been sent some lovely artwork and even a story relating to Hiding in Plain Sight so I've set up a shrine to house them, like I did with 24/7 many years ago. Some of the concepts of the universe are also referenced. October, 3rd, 2008 Editing on the huuuuuge long fic continues. It's very "big" and fantastical, and frankly a bit bonkers but that's what works best in the BDSM universe. I've started another NCIS fic (also Gibbs/Tony of course!) which is much more like a traditional slash story and much less emotional but the BDSM verse is all about the big themes and the undying love and the possessive claiming sex and that seems fine to me ;-). September 6th, 2008 After two years barely writing anything (I think I produced one story in that time, in the Dr Who fandom), I suddenly got inspired a few weeks ago and began a SGA/NCIS crossover fic set in my BDSM universe. It's enormous - currently 117,000 words but still nowhere near finished. It's been quite a rollercoaster - at times I've loved it and at times I've really struggled with it and have lost confidence but I've written a lot over a short period of time, it's a long, plotty story, and I've been a couple of years out of the game after some really nasty fandom experiences so maybe that's to be expected. It is set, in terms of timeline, a few months after the events of General & Dr Sheppard. Although the SGA characters feature strongly, I'd say it was probably more slanted towards the NCIS characters and the new fic tells the stories of lots of different characters. There's lots of slash but also some het and some femslash - all of which stays true to the spirit of that universe where everyone is bisexual and orientation is all about the BDSM and who is sub and top and how their dynamics work with each other. It's been great fun writing in the BDSM universe again - I really like the freedom that gives me although there's no doubt that does mean the characters are a little different - living in the BDSM verse does that to them! I've been watching NCIS for years and always enjoyed it but never felt fandomy about it until I started writing this story. Now I feel a lot more fandomy about it! Gibbs is even more toppy than Walter and Tony is both naughty and eager to please - he doesn't get into as much trouble as Mulder but there's certainly the potential there. Plus, there is regular canon head slapping - Gibbs slaps all his people on the back of the head when he's annoyed with them but he slaps Tony first and the most and Tony seems to enjoy it - he complained when it stopped on one occasion. It's not a hard stretch to go spanky from there (and of course I never need much encouragement on that!). I think the picture below captures their dynamic quite well *g*.
I don't know when the story will be finished or even if I'll post it when it's done but it has been fun writing again after all this time :-). I don't really know how many people still follow my website - it still gets a lot of hits so I presume people use it to find my stories and re-read old ones. posting a link to these before as I do love to support kink-related
things, especially as kink can sometimes get a bit of a bad press in

I'm posting the link here because I've spoken here about some of the problems I had in the SGA fandom as a result of that story so I thought I should share the good stuff too! February 9th, 2008 Wow, I think this is the longest I've gone between updates ever. Lots of things happened to me starting around Oct 2006 and continuing through last year and into this. I must admit I feel less connected to fandom after what went on in SGA - I've only managed one story since then (the Dr Who one, "New Gallifrey") which is the least I've written in about 10 years. Anyway, no new story because I'm still not writing. However, I have been nominated for some Stargate awards. "Coming Home" is in Romance, and "Disappointing Yoda" is in Episode Based. It’s quite satisfying to see "Coming Home" nominated as it’s the story the SGA Big Name Fans all got their knickers in a twist about, with a kind of bonkers and yet deeply nasty hysteria that made me reassess my involvement in fandom. Voting goes on until 3rd March so plenty of time to vote for your favourites. September 4th, 2007 Yay! I've written something! My first story since November, and, much to my surprise, it's Doctor Who - Doctor/Master slash to be precise, and very angsty it is too. Details below :-). It felt really good to be writing again - I really enjoyed the writing experience.
New Gallifrey August 12th, 2007 I'm so pleased to have won some awards in the recent Titanium Whip BDSM awards. A big thanks to the organisers of the awards. I liked the fact that a) these were for BDSM stories - the first online fandom awards I've heard of to recognise BDSM in its own right. And b) they were voted for by a panel, and all the stories were anonymous - this meant that a variety of stories, across many different fandoms were recognised. It must have been hard work for the judging panel but well worth the effort. You can see which of my stories won on my awards page. I was particularly thrilled with the "best spanking scene" award. Why not try and guess which spanking scene out of all the spanking scenes in all the stories I've written won that one... *g*. June 24th, 2007 Sorry I've been quiet of late. Translations I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all the people who have, over the years, done such fine translations of my work. I feel really honoured that so many of my stories have been translated into different languages - it wasn't something I anticipated when I started writing fanfic. I have no talent for other languages myself and I have such admiration for the people who are skilled enough in another language to be able to translate, and dedicated enough to give so much time to the task. Currently various of my fics are available in German, Chinese, Spanish and Italian and I can't tell you what a thrill it is, as a fanfic author, to know that my stories are accessible in so many different languages. I've loved getting a little glimpse into other cultures via my conversations with the various translators. I was especially surprised and pleased by the interest in my stories in China. A couple of years ago my Chinese readers invited me to a webchat with them which was a wonderful experience - they shared pictures they had made, and their experiences as readers, and I've loved seeing so many of my stories being translated into Chinese. I'm still not entirely sure where to go next but I do have a more robust attitude about what's happened. I have my own private opinions on some of the more well known names in the SGA fandom and how they've behaved but I can't see the point in raking up yet more wank by responding to the whole hoo-hah. I do think it's ironic that a fairly lightweight adventure show like SGA has attracted people who view fandom from a position of such high intellectual snobbery. I think they just like the sound of their own meta. Moving on: I've posted Chapter 25 of the German translation of 24/7 on the Translations Page. The translation is by Manuela. One more to go! http://community. December 12th, 2006 Quite a long update - bear with me :-). I've been the focus of some Livejournal attacks in recent weeks. A vocal section of the SGA fandom has a problem with my two John/Rodney epics, General & Dr Sheppard and Coming Home. I don't mind people not liking my stories but the hostility of these comments went way beyond that. Some of it was because of the BDSM content (sigh) and some the romantic nature of the stories, and dislike of my prose style. Some of it just seemed to be pure hostility towards me, with some quite personal comments - from people who I've never spoken to. This isn't the first time I've been targeted since posting in the SGA fandom. I'm feeling very bruised and down right now, and not entirely sure where to go from here. On with the update: I've posted Chapter 24 of the German translation of 24/7 on the Translations Page. The translation is by Manuela and she's done a cracking job translating so much of this extremely long fic. I'm full of admiration for her. Now, onto two very different sets of awards. I feel like I'm always telling you about more awards so I'm sorry about that.
Voting opened recently in the McShep Awards - these are just for John/Rodney fics. I'm delighted to have several of my McShep stories up in various categories. I'm particularly pleased to see General & Dr Sheppard and Coming Home nominated in the Best Story category (as well as in the romance and AU sections) as these stories have been given such a hard time lately. I'd like to say thank you to those people
who nominated me for these - that's very kind of you and much
appreciated. A big thanks also to Forcryinoutloud for her hard work in
organising and running the awards. In addition, nominations are open for the Titanium Whip Awards. These are multi-fandom BDSM awards which is fabulous as it gives BDSM a kind of legitimacy that I feel is often lacking in the slash world, as my recent experiences with G&DS and Coming Home have shown. I'm sure that many of the people visiting my website are connoisseurs of all kinds of BDSM stories in many different fandoms and I do hope you'll take the time to nominate your favourite authors for these awards. Sorry for the delays in posting - I've read through this fic several times but I found that when I came to post I wanted to read through each chapter again beforehand, so that all took up far more time than I'd anticipated. Plus posting itself just seemed to take ages, with all the formatting and copying of links and so forth on LJ and here. Replying to the feedback took time - but that was a very pleasant chore so I'm not complaining! But all in all events conspired against me and I wasn't able to get the full fic up here as early as I'd have liked. Never mind! Maybe next time! I hope you enjoy the final parts of the story - and I always like receiving friendly feedback <g>

Coming Home
(title page, warnings, thank yous, links, spoilers etc) 'Translations page - chapters 20 and 21 of 24/7, translated into German by Manuela September 3rd, 2006 I have now finished Coming Home, the prequel to General & Dr Sheppard. It's basically what I've been writing for the past several months and is around 183,000 words long - which is why I haven't had anything to post since April! Coming Home is still in the editing stage. I'm hoping to start posting it in instalments to my Livejournal on Monday Sept 11 and to my website soon after that. Coming Home is set in a BDSM universe where most people are bisexual and identify as dominant, submissive or switch. It’s about two people finding each other unexpectedly, and then learning how to be together. Below is an extract: “His face was now angled, unintentionally, in John's direction and John watched as Rodney slowly closed his eyes and then opened them again, and then he lay there, and there was an expression in his eyes of such sad acceptance that John's breath caught in his throat. Suddenly this had gone beyond duty for John, beyond his faintly bored witnessing of an unpleasant man getting his due. The expression in Rodney's eyes seemed to say, "Right. Yes. Of course. Here we go again." And rather than looking like the brusque, sarcastic scientist John thought he knew, now he resembled nothing so much as a lost, forlorn puppy, friendless and without a home. That realisation took John totally by surprise and now his interest in the proceedings was no longer dispassionate. Now it felt personal.” August 15th, 2006 I'm delighted that ten of my stories have been nominated in the Stargate Awards.
General & Doctor Sheppard has been nominated in the
slash/best
drama category I don't think that all my SGA stories are major works by any manner of means but there are a few that I'm particularly proud of and hope that they do well. I'm really delighted that stories by some of my favourite authors are nominated too. Authors such as Mice, Chaps, Likethekoschka and many others. And my good friend and beta, Bluespirit, has both her excellent stories *and* her fantastic artwork nominated, like the talented little bunny she is :-). I really do think these are the best organised awards I've seen. They had some good rules which reduced some of the problems with online fandom awards. Also, all the stories are in a database which makes voting easy. You do have to login to register your vote which should also help eliminate any cheating. Writers are only allowed one story per category which is a good idea and promotes a wider diversity of fic. There are also categories for music vids and artwork - both of which I love so I'm happy to see them there. I love the way awards create links to some of the best stories/artwork/music vids out there - it's a great resource. Voting continues until 24th September so there's plenty of time to read the nominated stories which is also good :-). They do a really time consuming job and provide a great buzz for the fandom so thank you :-) August 6th, 2006 I feel bad because I haven't been able to post a new story since April :-(. And this whole time I've been writing away but have nothing to show for myself! The GADS prequel, Coming Home is now 142,000 words long. AGH! And still not finished! It's going to be extremely huge by the time it's done. However - it IS nearly there. I anticipate finishing the writing within the next two weeks and then I'll need to do a read edit and my beta will need to look at it so I reckon I should end up posting it early in September, if not before. I'm really pleased with how it's turned out - it's so much fun playing in this universe :-). I'm posting a link to a translation of Worlds Child into Chinese by Wen Qing and Ellen Zak. I'm so impressed by their dedication in translating such a long work. Along with Manuela, who is doing the German translation of 24/7 - these people totally rock! July 10th, 2006 I'm STILL working on the GADS prequel. It does have a name now - "Coming Home" and it's set entirely in the AU where the married John and Rodney came from. It's the story of how that John and Rodney got together in their BDSM universe. I'm having some fun with it but I've been busy these past few weeks so haven't had much writing time. It's about 96,000 words long so far so it'll be a monster big story when it does finally arrive. I've updated the site with Chapter 19 of 24/7 in German, and a Chinese translation of Deja Vu. You can find them on the Translations page. June 11, 2006 I'm delighted that all my SGA fics have been nominated for the SGA Awards! I wasn't expecting that all of them would be nominated so thank you very much if you nominated me! I'm trying to decide which ones to put in which categories now - not an easy choice. I'm still busy writing the General and Dr Sheppard prequel. It's enormously long so hopefully it'll be worth the wait :-). I feel like I'm writing all the time but don't have anything to post to show for it! I've updated the site with Chapter 18 of 24/7 in German, and a Chinese translation of Skeletons. June 3rd, 2006 I'm currently working on a prequel to my story General & Dr Sheppard so I thought now would be a good time to feature G&DS on my featured story page. Go read! Mysti is currently also zineing General & Dr Sheppard, and a selection of my other SGA stories in an anthology taking its name from my fic Breaking the Rules. I'll let you know when these are available. May 20th, 2006 I'm busy working on a prequel to General & Doctor Sheppard. The prequel deals with how AU John and Rodney got together so it's set entirely in the fabby and rather bonkers BDSM universe! It's about 50,000 words long and nobody has so much as kissed yet so it's going to be another long one. That explains, incidentally, why I'm being quiet at the moment - I'm busy writing another epic! I'm also being haunted by a dozen other SGA plot bunnies. Is it wrong to spend so much time thinking about the bad things Kolya might do to Rodney if he had him locked up and at his mercy? <g> No, I didn't think so... Translations Page: I've just posted Chapter 17 of Manuela's amazing German translation of 24/7. Manuela really is phenomenal the way she's translating this entire story - it's SO long!
