Finding Sherlock
Dear Xanthe!
Recently I have read your fanfic Finding Sherlock and I want to say that it is really great!
Would you mind terribly, if I translate it into Russian language? I will state everywhere that I am just a translator and you are the author of the fic. Also, all the additional information (like your email or website) can be published, if you wish.
Thank you once again for your wonderful work!
Milva

Thank you, Milva! Please do translate it into Russian - that'd be great! Yes please do make sure my email address and website are on the finished version. If you could send me the file when you're done, we'll host it on xanthe.org for people to read here too :-).
Looking forward to hearing from you when it's done!
Xanthe

I don't know this dramatisation of Sherlock Holmes (I only know the current BBC one), but it wasn't hard to pick up the facts here, and this is such an intriguing concept, that there is a dichotomy between Holmes and Sherlock. You can really feel Dr Watson's love for both facets of his character though. I can't believe it, but you've successfully sold me on a BDSM story set in Victorian London, which I thought would never really gell together.

Thank you! I'm really proud of this one!

I think some of the actors have portrayed Holmes more aware that this personality is fractured, especially due to the detached cruelty he welds on all those he considers inferior intellectually.
I would think that to survive and actually retire in later years there would have to be an outlet for those publicly stamped down ultra controlled emotions. You don't turn to drugs if you are mentally and emotionally stable. Sometimes I truly thought he needed someone to pull his coat and reconnect him with humanity.
The images in this story make perfect sense to me. To have one person trusted enough and respected enough to show your vunerability to and who has the fortitude to stand up to you would be necessary for Holmes to continue to serve Queen and country.
Besides there were many times I thought he needed a good walloping.
Author's Response:
Thank you! I totally agree with everything you say here but particularly that last line *ggg*.
