When I saw the promo for this ep, I wasn’t excited. I thought it looked campy and stupid. I’m happy that I was wrong.
This ep was enjoyable. There were some funny moments that didn’t involve insults or hurt feelings. I was interested in the Tony/Wendy storyline and curious about what went wrong that made her leave him on their wedding day (Wendy is supposed to be older than Tony, but looking at them, no freaking way.) Tim and Ziva’s headslap comments made the Tibbs-shipper in me giggle. Ducky’s profile of Tony was fun to watch (and pretty accurate, I’d say).
I detected a sniff of Tiva at the end when Tony and Wendy were talking, but it was otherwise wonderfully absent. I too hope it’s the beginning of the end of Tiva, but I’m not gonna hope too hard! That relationship seems to be what’s driving the majority of the show’s popularity.
This ep reminded me a little of the older episodes that made me a fan. I think it had something to do with the fact that the case was close to home and didn’t deal with terrorism or espionage. There were no big-name guest stars, no huge in-depth character backstory, and I was able to sympathize with the RLSH’s–they weren’t just bumbling vigilantes.
Overall, it was better than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. Yay Steve Binder for writing us a fun, light hearted episode.
