I just reread this story again, and it just kills me, even more the second time around than the first time. The thing that gets me the most, out of all the horrible things that are done and taken from Gibbs, is the damn sawdust. That detail seemed to absolute gut me on the second time around, such a small yet powerful detail, so profoundly wrong and unfair, it just breaks my heart, and I just love how Tony decides to give that back to him.

I love that you love that story so much, Jacs. I think fandom took a collective shocked intake of breath when I posted it, and it was too dark for some people – much like The Adversary. But a few other people refer to it as my ‘masterpiece’ and I’m really proud of it
