🌺Hello, From Xanthe Walter
January 27th, 2026
Greetings, my lovelies!

-
- I’m delighted to share that Dark Water has made the All About Romance – The Best of 2025 list.
-
Here is what they had to say:
Dark Water is both a gripping suspense and gorgeous romance; set in the not-too-distant future, in a world where rising seas have made land scarce and life cheap, a grieving investigator crosses paths with a beautiful, enigmatic and damaged young man and both their lives are changed forever.
A high-stakes plot, a romance that will rip your heart out, flawed, compelling, superbly-drawn characters you can easily fall in love with (and one you will love to hate!): each instalment of the series had me on the edge of my seat – and the audiobook versions are fantastic, too.

This series means a great deal to me, and seeing it recognised alongside so many wonderful books is incredibly special. Thank you to everyone who has read, reviewed, and recommended these stories along the way.

Amazon have brought out a new Spanish translation service. Feeling impulsive, I created a Spanish version of Ricochet. I’m not convinced about the quality of translations done this way, but if you are a Spanish speaker and want to check it out here is the link. It’s in KU. Do let me know if the quality is awful!
-
I’ve adjusted the pricing on all my ebooks. Crocodile Tears is now $2.99, Ghost Eye $3.99, The Lost Zone $4.99, The Quarterlands $4.99 and Ricochet $4.99, and this is where they’ll stay for the foreseeable future. Some are cheaper than before, and some are more expensive. I will let you know whenever I run a reduced price promotion on any of the books.
In other news:
- In this newsletter, I’m featuring MM author Quinn Seaver and his novel The Exchange, a dark, high-stakes romance where a kidnapped con artist and the enforcer who holds his life in his hands blur the line between coercion and choice, love and survival, with millions on the line and nowhere safe to run.
-
- There’s also the usual selection of MM themed promotions and book fairs for you to enjoy. NOTE: We signed up to a couple of predominantly M/F promos in error, so be careful when clicking if that’s not your jam. Sorry about that!
- Enjoyed any of my books? Reviews, social media posts, and personal recommendations all help them reach new readers—and I’d be so grateful.

Next week we’re off to Tenerife in search of Winter sun – I hope we actually find some! It’s my first holiday abroad since 2018 – what with Mum’s Alzheimer’s, then Covid, then losing Penny and Dad, and finally finishing and publishing a massive book series, there hasn’t been the time. So the next newsletter should feature Tenerife Tales instead. In the meantime, back in wet and windy Britain, we finally ventured out after days of oppressive storms to visit Wells. Wells is one of my favourite local towns – if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend a visit. It’s got so much – a beautiful cathedral, lovely shops, a regular street market, and the Bishop’s Palace and Gardens, which are truly stunning. We didn’t do the palace and gardens yesterday because we’ve been there before and the weather wasn’t great, but they are unmissable if you are visiting for the first time. There’s so much history in Wells if you love that kind of thing (which I do!). It’s also where the movie Hot Fuzz was filmed, so if you’re a fan, you can take a walking tour of the movie locations. The cathedral tours are also fantastic. They last an hour and are conducted by volunteers. And visit The Loft – the cathedral cafe, which is my favourite cafe in Wells. Try the cloister cake! Xanthe’s Venue Rating – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Wells is, imho, one of the finest little towns in the West Country. Xanthe’s Cafe Rating – ⭐⭐⭐⭐- lovely hot chocolate and a delicious selection of cakes. Piccies below – the first one is of me standing in ‘Penniless Porch’, built in around 1450 for beggars to ask for alms. Number 2 shows the cathedral in the background, then there’s me indulging in a lemon crumble cake and hot chocolate in The Loft, and finally a shot of a wet but still pretty town square. |
