- We’re halfway through the summer of Dark Water, so I just wanted to check in to see how you’re doing. It’s been a wild ride so far!
- I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it’s going and the fantastic response to this book series.
- If you’re enjoying the books, PLEASE post about them on social media if you’re comfortable doing that. I’m not well-known, and the word-of-mouth really helps.
- I’m posting a snippet from Ghost Eye below. It’s only short, but it’s quite sexually dark, so you might want to skip over it if that’s not for you.
- I’m dropping the price of Ghost Eye to $2.99/£2.99 today. I don’t know how long for, so grab it at that price while you can!
- Remember Ghost Eye won’t make much sense unless you’ve read Crocodile Tears, but that’s still .99c/.99p, so if you buy both now, it’s a good deal!
- I had my last pre-book phone call with narrator Matt Addis a few days ago (sob!). He’s just started his reading of Book Four, and we were both so sad that it’s nearly over.
- Matt said what great TV they’d make – he’s longing for Netflix to offer me a deal. That’s as likely as a very unlikely thing, but we both enjoyed the fantasy.
- I asked what part he’d like to play in a screen adaptation, and he came back, quick as a flash, with one particular character. You’ll have to wait and see who that is in a later newsletter…!
- That got me to thinking – who would YOU cast in the roles? Let me know by hitting reply!
- My choices…? Hmmm… well, when I started writing it in 2013 (!) I could totally see Sebastian Stan as Alex and Daniel Craig as Josiah, but they’re both a bit old now. I’d probably still cast Mark Strong as George Tyler. Maybe Hugh Bonneville as Noah Lytton? Julie Walters as Esther? Who else? Reed? Elsie? Liz? Charles? Solange? Let me know!In other news:

🎧 Xanthe’s Audio Recs
I know I’m late to this particular party, but I very much enjoyed Tal Bauer’s Hush, which was a superbly structured plotty thriller with a lovely gay romance at its heart. I gasped out loud at one part and found the narration very easy to listen to.
